what people are not realising about sama and jony video

Everyone is talking about the $6.5B acquisition, and almost no one is talking about what Sama casually said:

"We have, like, magic intelligence in the cloud. If I wanted to ask ChatGPT something right now about something we had talked about earlier, think about what would happen. I would, like, reach down. I would get on my laptop, I'd open it up, I’d launch a web browser, I'd start typing, and I'd have to, like, explain that thing. And I would hit enter, and I would wait, and I would get a response. And that is at the limit of what the current tool of a laptop can do. But I think this technology deserves something much better."

This statement shows the limitations in the consumer AI space.

In my family, there are only 2–3 power users of AI—usually, these are people who are already very tech-savvy.

I don't see my grandmother using ChatGPT. I don't see my dad or mom using ChatGPT to its truest potential. I don't see my maid using ChatGPT.

Today, most of the AI applications are in the enterprise context, and a laptop or a desktop is a perfect form factor. But what about consumer AI? I don't enjoy using ChatGPT on mobile—it's very frustrating and limiting.

Maybe that's why we need a new form factor, which is not just another phone but something that deeply couples hardware and software. Something that's always on. Something that takes the full power of AI and brings it to every consumer on the planet.
